Appealing a traffic fine: 15 days from notice

The appeal is to the criminal court of peace. The window is 15 days from notice. It is not the discount window. A holiday last day moves to the next business day.

Article 27 of the Misdemeanours Law gives 15 days from notice to apply to the criminal court of peace against an administrative fine. Fifteen days is not the 25% discount window.

  • The appeal is an application to the court, not a petition to the unit that wrote the ticket.
  • Paying at the discounted rate does not always drop the right to appeal; keep the ticket and the notice date.
  • If the last day is a weekend or public holiday, the next business day counts.

This page shows the clocks. It does not write a court petition or cite case law. The article, date and notice on the ticket are the record.
