Common questions
Is the 2026 speeding fine still a percentage?
No. Law 7574 removed the percentage system on 27 February 2026. Excess is measured speed minus the posted limit. In built-up areas 6–10 km/h is 2,000 TL and 66 km/h and above is 30,000 TL. There is no separate 26–30 km/h row.
How long is the 25% traffic-fine discount?
It is not 15 days. It is one month from notice. GİB’s example for a 7 January 2026 notice is 9 February 2026. 15 days is the appeal window at the criminal court of peace.
What is the fine for driving without a licence?
If you never held a licence, article 36/3-a is 40,000 TL. If the licence was seized or cancelled, 36/3-b and 36/3-c are 200,000 TL. If the driver is not the operator, the operator is fined another 40,000 TL.
How much is drink-driving in 2026?
The limit is 0.50 per mille for a private car and 0.20 for other vehicles. First finding 25,000 TL, second 50,000, third 150,000. Refusing the test is article 48/9: 150,000 TL and five years off the licence.
How much is the winter-tyre fine?
Article 65/A is 6,000 TL and 10 points for the operator in the mandatory period. Discounted: 4,500 TL. Snow chains on trucks, tractors and buses are 65/A/2, also 6,000 TL.
How is 2026 motor vehicle tax calculated?
Age is tax year minus model year plus one. For cars registered from 2018, engine, value and age are read together. An electric car pays 25% of the matching row. The yearly amount is two equal instalments in January and July.
Where do I look up and pay a traffic fine?
Only e-Devlet (turkiye.gov.tr) and GİB (dijital.gib.gov.tr). This site does not take a plate, ID number or card, and it does not show the official record.
